The Temecula Wineries
A Fun and Doable Destination!
The Temecula wineries are a premier place for weekend warriors coming from all over Southern California. I love weekends at the wineries. Mainly because I am guaranteed to see lots and lots of dogs at many of the dog friendly ones.
Things to Consider When Planning a Trip to the Temecula Wineries with your Dog
A trip with your dog is easy with a little pre-planning. Here are three things to do to plan for a great time with your dog:
Call Ahead
Although many sites offer lists of wineries that are dog-friendly (including the one I provide here), this can certainly change without notice. No one wants waste their planned day only to be turned away and have to find a new winery on the spot. Be sure to call the day before . Most hours of operation are anywhere from 11am-6pm, but not all operate on these hours, nor do they on the same day. A simple call will save you a lot of wasted time.

Check the Weather
The Temecula Valley can be very hot in summer months. Weather can also be unpredictable. The most dog-friendly time to visit is in the early spring or late fall.
Pack a Bag
I'm not referring to an overnight bag, but more of a pet-survival one. Be sure to bring extra food , treats, a small blanket for your dog (to comfortably lay upon in case the winery has either bare ground or rocky terrain), and most importantly, a water bowl. Also note that although many of the wineries are dog-friendly, they still may require you keep your dog leashed. Lastly, be sure to pack your own manners-bring enough waste baggies for the day. You should also inquire where the preferred place to dispose of the bag since the staff may not appreciate the smell of dog poo to be near other patrons.
