5 Dog Parks in Temecula Valley
My first time taking my dog, Reesie, to a dog park, I was a bit underprepared. It was late spring and the temperature was warmer than I realized. I also forgot the poop bags in the car, all the way up a long, somewhat-steep hill. Read on to find out where some of our dog parks are and how to go prepared so that you and your dog have a great time!
Live Oak Park, Fallbrook, CA
The name says it all. This is a regional park in Fallbrook. Oak tree groves provide shade throughout the park. This is undoubtedly a family park with picnic tables, baseball fields, soccer fields and basketball courts. There are also playgrounds for the kids. For dogs, there are large open areas, however, dogs must be on a leash. For leash-free fun, there is a separate park across the street on the corner of Gird and Reche Canyon Rd, your dog can run off leash in a fenced dog park.

Dog Park Survival Checklist
It may seem that visiting a dog park is an easy, run out the door kind of venture. Keep in mind this list to make sure your pup is happy and remains that way on your next visit to one of Temecula Valley's dog parks.
Water and Bowl
Dogs are super excited to run free at most of the dog parks in our area. They tend to get panting quickly, even in cooler weather. It is extremely important to bring along a few bottles of water and a bowl. Collapsible bowls with a belt clasp are the most convenient. Some dog parks, such as Aldergate, have doggie drinking fountains,
Waste Bags
This goes without saying, but always pick up after your dog. Many dog parks provide waste bags, however, bringing your own will ensure you have one on hand. Also, a ziplock baggie is a good idea incase you cannot locate a trash bin to toss the waste bag.
Emergency Kit
Sometimes, especially in areas with weeds, ticks or pickers can make contact with your pet. A little pouch with a belt loop or even left in your car can save you from something getting worse (and an impending trip to the vet).
-tweezers to remove burrs or stuck leaves
-pet wipes or a cloth to wipe your pet's eyes when something lands in them
-pet friendly gauze to stop bleeding until you can get your pet to a vet
Many companies sell these kits. Check Amazon or Chewy
Vaccine Records and Other Essentials
Some parks require you to show proof of current vaccinations. Keeping the paperwork in your glove box or in your backpack. Be sure to keep you pet's veterinary number hand as well.
Other essentials to keep on hand are: a second leash in case your's breaks or a loose dog needs wrangling, treats to keep your dog focused when you need to grab their attention, and possibly a towel in the event someone gets muddy.
